The wallet is an item that holds all your money, showing its amount on a small paper slip sticking out. When banknotes are stored to inventory (those received as a delivery order payment, for example), they're automatically added to the wallet.
On machines that prompt you for a transaction, such as at the career managers, service points and shops, simply use the wallet on the money slot to pay.
The wallet is acquired at the very start of the session, and can be force-retrieved if lost, using the inventory.
