Message definition (Rheostatic & Regenerative Brake)

For the rheostatic or regenerative brakes to be operational, {{pll|Throttle|throttle}} needs to be disengaged and the {{pll|Reverser|reverser}} set in the direction the vehicle is moving. The brake is usually operated by a lever that causes electrical circuits in the vehicle to reconfigure, such that they turn {{pll|Traction Motors|traction motors}} into generators. Motion of the vehicle is then converted into electricity.

För att den reostatiska bromsen ska fungera måste föraren koppla ur gasreglaget och ställa in riktningsväljaren i den riktning som fordonet rör sig. Bromsen manövreras vanligtvis av en spak som förvandlar traktionsmotorer till generatorer, när den används. De elektriska kretsarna i fordonet konfigureras om så att strömmen som genereras av traktionsmotorerna leds genom motstånd. Detta saktar ner fordonet på bekostnad av att skapa värme, som sprids ut i atmosfären av kraftfulla fläktar.
