To help with the lower visibility at night and in dark places, most motorized rail vehicles are equipped with headlights, taillights, gauge backlights and cab lights. In some places, tracks are illuminated by lamp posts. For activities outside of the vehicles, the driver can use a flashlight, lantern, comms radio or even the lighter to illuminate their surroundings.
