Private locomotives are work trains that you can own, and are not the property of DVRT. The only way to acquire private locomotives is through demonstrator restoration. To gain access to a private locomotive, you must have a respective license for that type of locomotive.
Unlike the DVRT locomotives, private ones don't despawn, which makes them particularly suitable for customization with paint jobs, gadgets and train parts.
Private locomotives can be requested with the comms radio for a fee, depending on the session difficulty settings. They can receive damage, consume resources and need to be manually serviced.
These locomotives can be found in the world only in career mode, and in sandbox mode they can be recreated from any locomotive with the comms radio livery mode.
