Caboose is a car and a work train, used as a multi-purpose crew support vehicle. To become available, the caboose needs to be unlocked from a special garage, with a key that can be bought in one of the shops.
Once unlocked, the caboose can be requested using the comms radio, for a fee, depending on the session difficulty settings. The caboose cannot be damaged and it doesn't have service costs.
Caboose has a few uses:
- Spacious interior - Plenty of drawers and cupboards to store items in.
- Bed - A cozy place to sleep in.
- Electricity - Onboard electricty that supports gadget installation.
- Athermal handbrake - A brake resilient to brake shoe overheating and wheelslide, ideal as a dynamic brake substitute.
- Career manager - Integrated career manager, for use as a mobile service center.
- Brake pipe gauge - A gauge to verify air line connections.
