Cars are provided by the “Derail Valley Railworks and Transportation” company (DVRT for short). They can be found parked in stations around the world, either empty or loaded.
Almost every car is bound to a delivery order, as can be verified on its ID plate. Most commonly, cars that belong to the same order are coupled together into a single train.
When a delivery assigned to a car is completed, the car is assigned a new order. In case the order was canceled, the car will remain without an order permanently, and despawn soon.
In sandbox mode, depending on session difficulty settings, it is possible to manually spawn cars and their cargo using the comms radio spawner and cargo loader modes.
